Occasionally I will use this blog to highlight young adult authors that you might not be familiar with.
Just this morning I read an article that called John Green "ubber popular." He first came onto my radar when I noticed a boy (now graduated) repeatedly, year after year, checking out "Looking for Alaska." When I asked him about it he said it was his all-time favorite book, and that he reread it every year. It was noticeable, because this boy didn't read much. Then there was the senior girl (also now graduated) who loved all of his books.
Earlier this fall, I noticed a boy reading all of the John Green books. I asked him if he had a new favorite author. The answer was "Yes!" I then asked him if he would write a blurb for this blog. Here it is:
"Midway through my read of The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, Green became one of my favorite authors. He makes you care for the characters in his books. He also is very good at writing from the teenage perspective, even though he is 36 years old.
I highly recommend his books, especially The Fault in Our Stars. Also check out John and his brother Hank on www.youtube.com/user/vlogbrothers, and for homework help check out John and Hank on http://www.youtube.com/user/crashcourse."
Oh, by the way, "The Fault in Our Stars" is being made into a movie.
If you have a favorite author that other kids might not have found, let me know, and I will highlight their work.
